Natural Way to Remove Hair Product Buildup
Posted on June 5, 2013
The only reason I own a blow dryer is to put plastic on my windows in the winter.
Needless to say, but hair has never really been a priority of mine, so I never gave much thought to what shampoo I used.
As soon as Gina ran her hands through my hair, she asked me what kind of shampoo I use. I shrinked in my seat as I told her that I use a shampoo and conditioner in one. She proceeds to scrape my hair with her scissors and show me this nastiness…
Gina then proceeded to tell me about how hair products buildup on your hair. She said some side effects of product build-up are:
- Not as much volume so it takes more product to style your hair
- Hair doesn’t dry as fast- forcing me to use that darn blow dryer!
- Dulls the color of your hair – even though a lot of products try to make your hair look ‘silkier’
The good news is that Gina doesn’t have to scrape every single last hair on my head to get all the gunk off of my hair- there are some simple, natural ways you can deep clean hair too! The fastest and easiest technique I’ve been reading about is to simply wash your hair with this concoction a couple of times:
1 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar +
1 cup of Water +
2 tbsp of Baking Soda (dillutes the smell of the AC vinegar!)
In addition to deep cleaning my hair with this a couple of times, I have also started using a natural shampoo that is only 2 ingredients and takes 3 minutes to make.
I can’t wait to see if Gina can scrape anything off my hair in a couple of months when I get a trim! It will be a good test to see how natural this deep hair cleanse and organic shampoo really are. Follow me on Twitter and look out for the ‘test results’ in a couple of months!
