The Sunglasses Effect
Posted on March 31, 2018
For as long as I can remember, I always had a pair of sunglasses everywhere -
a pair in this purse, a pair in that bag,
a pair with this shirt, a pair with that dress
a pair in my car, a pair in my desk,
a pair in my arrrr….
A pair seemed to break every time I used them, so obviously I kept buying cheap pairs of sunglasses to replace the broken ones. And the vicious cycle repeated.
Then a friend finally convinced me to get a nice pair of Raybans with polarized lenses.
And my life has never been the same since.
That was the day I rounded up all the sunglasses littered throughout my life, and donated them.
Ever since, I’ve been faithful to one pair, and one pair only.
We’ve been together about 4 years now. The last 4 years has taught me that when I only have ONE PAIR, I’m forced to take special care of them. A lot of the places I travel to are very sunny, but don’t have stores that sell polarized sunglasses. Even if they did, being forced to hasten the pace on my decision making process for a big purchase like that would STRESS me out. It would be a serious damper on my vacation if I something happened to my sunglasses. That’s how much I value them. And that’s why I treat them with more respect than I did all the other sunglasses combined.
Imagine that – having less things to take care of, gives you more time & energy to take better care of the few nice things you do have!
